Pupils from across the North East have got their tickets to the fully booked engineering event, ‘Bring it On!’.

The exhibition, which aims to help reduce the existing engineering skills gap in the region, will see 156 of the region’s schools participate in the first ‘Bring it On!’ event on the 3rd and 4th October at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.

It is expected that 2,500 pupils from across the North East will attend the exhibition, which intends to inspire, educate and excite school children about the opportunities in the engineering industry.

Exhibitors from across the region are aiming to improve employment prospects for young people in the North East by providing interactive and entertaining exhibits for students to engage with.

Chair of ‘Bring it On!’, Thomas Chacko, said he is thrilled to see so many of the region’s schools and engineering firms sign up to what is going to be a fantastic, educational event.

“We do believe it is incredibly important that pupils share the wisdom of those in the industry as this will help them to make significant career decisions and it will also show them the opportunities available in the North East.”

Teachers also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition for an exclusive ‘Teachers’ Event’, which will see attendees meet industry ambassadors and find out about the opportunities engineering can offer and how they can be linked to the curriculum, in an accredited CPD session, delivered by STEM Learning.

There is also the opportunity for educators to meet representatives from a range of engineering related educational resource providers, including Primary Engineer, Greenpower, STEM Learning, Tomorrow’s Engineers and Big Bang.

North East Big Bang Manager at RTC North, Carol Harrison, said: “The North East STEM Hub is thrilled to be participating in ‘Bring it On!’. We will be delivering a bespoke package to teachers focused on North East engineering and the event will also include taster sessions from local STEM Ambassadors.

“Geek Talent will also be taking part in the Teachers’ Event and the team plans to show-off its brand-new App, which has been developed to give young people live up-to-date information on careers. It’s going to be an excellent event!”
