National software consultancy Scott Logic has signalled its ongoing growth plans with the appointment of Laura Donelly as Finance Director.

Laura, who joins the fast growing software consultancy from the UK and Ireland leadership team at Sage, the North East’s only FTSE 100 plc, brings with her a wealth of senior level financial experience and is looking to help steer the future direction of the business which in ten short years has grown from a start up in Newcastle to a multi million pound operation employing more than 230 technology professionals across four UK offices.

Scott Logic, which continues to operate its head office in Newcastle, has developed an enviable reputation for creating bespoke complex software solutions and works with some of the world’s largest financial institutions and global investment banks.  Laura’s appointment will provide the business with a strategic steer as it builds on its success and enters in to new markets.

Commenting on her new role Laura said: “It’s not often opportunities such as this become available in the North East which is why I jumped at the chance of joining the team. Scott Logic has enlisted my support to identify potential growth and really drive the business forward with a forward looking finance function.

“And what a good platform we have in place on which to build upon; Scott Logic has an impressive client list who entrust their complex, business critical software requirements to its team of consultants – this speaks volumes for their reputation, expertise and ability.”

In the past 12 months, Scott Logic which has been named one of the North East’s Top 50 Fastest growing companies for 2017, has appointed 80 new members of staff to its teams in Newcastle, Bristol, Edinburgh and London – including 20 graduates who have joined its sought after graduate programme – in order to fuel its future growth strategy.

Laura added: “Being able to attract some of the best talent in the industry has undoubtedly supported the company’s growth and allows us to look to the future with unrivalled confidence; it’s an exciting time to be joining such an ambitious business.”

Nigel Wilson, general manager at Scott Logic added: “Attracting someone of Laura’s calibre to join the team demonstrates just how far we have come over the past decade and we know that she will help to drive the business forward, providing a strategic view and challenging our assumptions.”

Scott Logic was founded in 2005 to service the complex software needs of big financial institutions, and it is now extending its expertise into other demanding trading environments like commodities and public sector technology infrastructure.  Over the past 12 years the business has grown significantly and now employs more than 230 of the best people in the industry across its four UK offices in Newcastle, Edinburgh, Bristol and London.
