We invite you to attend an information session about the Institute of Coding (IoC), Wednesday June 21st, 9:00-10:30am in The Core, Science Central, Bath Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 5TF.
The IoC is an initiative from Higher Education Funding Council for England, with a total investment of £40m between 2017 and 2021. Its purpose is “to serve as a national focus for improving digital skills provision at Levels 6 and 7.” That is, it provides funding to set up university level programmes and courses, industry-led, including degree apprenticeships.
Our three universities (Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland) are members of a large consortium that bids for this investment. If the consortium wins the bid, this would result in a £4m effort in the North-East, developing programmes and courses across our three universities, driven by the demands from industry. The bid will go in on July 7th. This event provides you with an opportunity to learn about the Institute of Coding and to input suggestions into the proposal that align with your company’s skill strategy, thus optimizing the return for you and the North-East.
Please reply to claire.smith@ncl.ac.uk if you wish to attend, so we can cater and send you additional information as it becomes available.
We hope to see you Wednesday,
Aad van Moorsel, Newcastle University
Huseyin Seker, Northumbria University
Alastair Irons, Sunderland University
