The operator of Europe’s biggest online bingo sites is about to unveil its new £7m campus in Sunderland.
With completion only weeks away, tombola’s designers are preparing to reveal the building’s high spec and modern interiors.
Mike Cronin, who has overseen the project for tombola, explained: “From the outset we set out to create high spec headquarters fit for a high growth, international tech business.
“We’ve designed a stylish and laid-back working environment that is completely in harmony with our culture of modern informality and flexibility. It’s the ideal workplace for smart software developers, wanting to build long term careers and a great working environment for collaboration and innovation.
“The stunning 15m high atrium with wide bleacher steps and 15m² video wall opposite, delivers a real wow factor for all visitors and gives us an amazing open space for meetings.
“We also wanted to preserve tombola’s family culture so a considerable amount of the ground floor is dedicated to collaborative activities and encouraging movement around the new campus.
“The ground floor is the social heart of the building with the central atrium dividing the two upper floors, which accommodate open-plan offices for approximately 160 staff. Social facilities include a large bistro with theatre kitchen fronting the River Wear and a well-equipped gym.
“The building also boasts an array of leading edge tech as well as state-of-the-art video conferencing that includes the 15m² video wall.”
The new riverside campus incorporates both old and new buildings as well as a new landscaped green area.
The new building is situated adjacent to tombola’s current headquarters, the Rose Line Building at Wylam Wharf in Sunderland. A former bonded warehouse dating from the late 1700’s it is one of only two warehouses surviving in what was formerly a densely occupied commercial quayside area.
Founded in 2000, tombola.co.uk is the largest bingo site in the UK, with more players than any other company. The company is also the leading online bingo company in Spain and Italy with offices in Milan, Madrid and Gibraltar – and has plans to expand into further new international territories in the near future.
The company develops and produces original gaming software, created by an in-house development team and is one of the largest employers of game and web developers in the North East of England.
