Emerging Tech in Smart Cities: Urban Resilience
Join us on the 19th October for the Emerging Tech in Smart Cities event at The Core, Newcastle Helix for a morning workshop followed by a networking lunch.
As urban populations rise globally, and citizens continue to face a range of socio-economic challenges, how can emerging technologies be used to make our cities more resilient? In the face of rising global socio-economic problems, emerging technologies are disrupting and transforming how cities operate. Can these technologies enable us to survive and thrive in the face of growing challenges?
This event will give local SMEs the opportunity to:
- Find out from Innovation SuperNetwork what funding is available through the GX Project and how to apply.
- Begin conversations and collaborations – a great way to kick-start a step-change in your organisation, and in the sector.
Hear from an outstanding panel including organisations undertaking projects in the North East, and other experts in the sector including:
- Home Group
- Lloyd’s of London
- Newcastle City Council
- Spacehive
- Sunderland City Council
- Umbrellium
- Urban Foresight
What to expect
Workshop
The workshop will be held in the morning and will focus on two key socio-economic challenges faced by citizens, namely:
- The need to do more with less – with a number of local authorities struggling and funding in short supply, can technology help to deliver more efficient and better targeted services?
- Connecting the marginalised and improving the lives of disadvantaged & vulnerable citizens – we’ll explore how technology can help us to better identify, safeguard and deliver improved services to hard-to-reach communities.
Networking
Capitalising on the momentum built from the workshop, there will be an informal networking event following our speakers. This will be an ideal opportunity to explore key challenges, and shape new solutions over a light lunch.
