My inspiration to volunteer with Dynamo North East is rooted in a deep commitment to fostering collaboration and growth within the tech sector. Recognising the transformative power of collective effort, I align with Dynamo’s mission of connecting, supporting, and promoting the North East’s digital and tech community. The opportunity to contribute my skills and experience to a dynamic network that stimulates regional progress motivates me.

My day-to-day role as Director of Delivery at Sunderland Software City, which is a pivotal role within the organisation I support and oversee the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, ensuring the organisation’s mission to support the growth of the digital and tech sector in the region is realised. My day-to-day responsibilities include managing the delivery of programs that foster innovation, collaboration, and skills development, creating an ecosystem where tech businesses can thrive.

Reflecting on my career, the three achievements that stand out as sources of pride form me, are firstly, developing innovative skills programmes that raise awareness of career opportunities within the digital and tech sector and connect businesses with emerging talent, as well as supporting 100’s of individuals to find their first role in tech.

Secondly building and being part of a team of incredible people with who are all hard working and committed to supporting the growth of the sector.

Lastly, in a previous role I was part of a senior leadership team which achieved an OFSTED Outstanding rating, I’m proud of this as it recognises the high quality and of work and provision and the positive impact that this had on others within the organisation.

To stay informed about industry trends and advancements, I employ a multifaceted approach. Regularly attending conferences, participating in webinars, and engaging with industry publications ensure I stay abreast of the latest developments. Networking with professionals across the tech landscape provides valuable insights, enabling me to anticipate changes and adapt strategies accordingly.

Outside of work, I enjoy various activities. I am an avid walker, I love going on hikes, climbing mountains and just generally getting outdoors, I also enjoy sea swimming and have recently invested in an ice bath for my garden. I have a love cooking, for family and friends a, I find it offers me a creative outlet and a means to unwind, I love creating new recipes.

I’m a passionate advocate for individuals and businesses to engage with Dynamo North East for several reasons. Firstly, the collaborative environment promotes knowledge exchange, fostering innovation and growth. Secondly, the network provides unparalleled networking opportunities, connecting professionals across diverse sectors. Lastly, involvement with Dynamo allows individuals and businesses to actively contribute to the region’s tech ecosystem, playing a pivotal role in shaping its future.
