Nomad Digital working collaboratively to bring you ‘The Rocket Hack’ – Get your people involved!

Nomad Digital introduce the North East’s premier hackathon – The Rocket Hack 2019 with key partners in the region. Nomad Digital, world leaders in connectivity for train, buses, metros and trams on the move globally decided to create a unique hackathon event, for the region – by the region.

By joining forces with likeminded North East businesses such as, Gardiner Richardson, NCFE, NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator and Gateshead College, Nomad Digital are creating a fun an unique event.

With the aim to inspire people and showcase the amazing cutting-edge technology coming out of the North East, this is set to be a fantastic event. All the businesses taking part have the same goals and commitments when it comes to achieving this and creating opportunities in the region.

Nomad’s own vision is aligned with the other businesses involved and collaborating means everyone will be stronger in their goal to connect the North East.

Join in the fun, be part of the first Rocket Hack. Build an idea and take it forward!

The Rocket Hack is a hackathon with a difference…With a clear focus on giving Back – a compelling reason for running a hackathon in its own right.

As well as a traditional prize pot of up to £3,500 the event could also offer attendees the chance (if they want) to take an idea forward, with support from Nomad Digital and NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator post-event. With desk space, mentoring and a fully funded pre-accelerate programme.

You’ll also want to come:

  • for the free food
  • to win prizes
  • for fun entertainment
  • to learn and meet new people
  • for recruitment opportunities – get hired!
  • to attract investors
  • for the glory.

GET INVOLVED!

Smart Transport theme!

With a smart transport theme and a name linked to North East transport innovation, the Rocket Hack hopes to generate new ideas and cutting-edge technology. Something that could change the transport industry for the better, like new software to enhance passenger experience, an idea that might help to provide smart ticketing, or new tech that could enhance the door-to-door travel experience?

The history

The Rocket is an iconic part of Britain’s railway heritage, made in Newcastle and a world-changing innovation. Manufactured in 1829 by Robert Stephenson at Newcastle’s Fourth Street Works, The Rocket was the fastest locomotive ever built up to that point.

The Rocket Hack was born – a great fit as the event is all about showcasing the inspiring technology coming from the North East.

Nick Camara, Nomad’s Global HR Director said, “It will be a fun filled free event with a festival vibe, amazing food and entertainment as well as giving you the chance to network with peers, interesting employers and the businesses partnering and supporting The Rocket Hack idea”

What’s next?

‘The Rocket Hack’ can become an annual event with continued support from businesses, partners and communities. It will contribute to the amazing technology coming out of the region and provide opportunities for tech talent and entrepreneurs. The Rocket Hack is not just for coders and developers it is open to anyone who has an idea or would like to be part of a team, create something special and most of all have fun. You can apply to take part HERE

In the North East we support each other and are very proud of our community spirit. Partners and supporters are North East based, and Nomad Digital recognise the amazing engagement and support that the Rocket Hack has attracted. If it wasn’t for this community spirit, it would not be possible to achieve this unique event.

Nomad would like to thank everyone and are excited for the first ever Rocket Hack for the region!
