Lauren Laverne speaks out for Sunderland

One of the University of Sunderland’s most celebrated alumni is helping showcase the University in a new promotional video.

Sunderland-born multi-award winning broadcaster Lauren Laverne voices the video, ‘Think Sunderland’, which celebrates the University’s career-focused courses, top quality facilities, inclusive and welcoming culture and everything the city has to offer.

Lauren, host of the BBC Radio 6 Breakfast Show and Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, and honorary graduate of the University of Sunderland, said: “To be able to showcase my home city, to show how it’s evolved – and the University’s significant part in that evolution – was too good to miss.”

The video also features BBC Radio 1 presenter and Sunderland graduate Jordan North at the University’s community radio station Spark.

Jordan, a former Spark presenter, officially opened Spark’s new Studio 5 at the University’s David Puttnam Media Centre on Sir Tom Cowie Campus, St Peter’s, in September this year.
