Infotel UK Consulting is proud to announce a significant achievement that reinforces its commitment to excellence in the AI, NLP, and LLM spaces. Their whitepaper, authored by Infotel UK Data Scientist, Sean Bayly, is entitled “Little RAGNER: Toward Lightweight, Generative, Named Entity Recognition Through Prompt Engineering and Multi-Level Retrieval Augmented Generation,” – and has been selected for presentation at the prestigious International Conference on Natural Language Computing and Language Processing (ICNLCLP 2024) in Barcelona, hosted by the World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology.
This selection marks a remarkable accomplishment for Infotel’s Data Science offering, as they continue to take great pride in their research and development in the field.
The company has been investing heavily in AI research and innovation, particularly in the fields of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), further cementing its leadership in the North East’s burgeoning technology sector.
Eric Fabretti, General Director of the Infotel Group, expressed his enthusiasm stating:
“The initial results of this study are extremely encouraging, revealing significant potential for future progress. Through these initiatives, Infotel aims not only to consolidate its market position, but also to play a key role in the evolution of AI and its applications for the benefit of our customers.”
The whitepaper follows a successful period of collaboration between Infotel UK Consulting and the National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD) and the University of Kent, showcasing cutting-edge advancements in AI model implementation. Key contributors to the project included NICD’s former Data Scientist, Dr. Mac Misiura, and current Data Scientist, Akash Kumar, and Infotel’s team consisting of Junior Software Developer, Simon Horrocks, and Junior Data Scientist, Danny Glover. Senior Java Developer, Don Horrell, who recently retired also brought his wealth of experience to this effort.
Infotel Data Scientist, Sean Bayly, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity his role has presented him, and is optimistic towards the whitepaper’s potential impact:
“We set out to demonstrate the relevance of recent advances in the field of artificial intelligence to business-level use cases. Our novel impacts on the subject of Generative Named Entity Recognition illustrate the progress of AI, in that recent methods can compete with GPT3 using models that are more than 20x smaller. This highlights the idea that powerful, open-source artificial intelligence is becoming lightweight and extremely accessible.
Infotel has been instrumental in supporting this research, offering me both technical resources and an environment of continuous learning.”
Infotel UK Consulting continues to explore emerging technologies, with a keen interest in AI agents and the potential applications of NLP combined with machine vision. This recent achievement is a testament to the team’s efforts, and underscores the growth opportunities their Innovation Lab offers across all stages of their Data Science initiatives.
The conference will take place on October 24th-25th 2024.
