The latest Dynamo Leadership Forum saw dozens of executives from industry come together at The Catalyst to discuss AI, with thanks to Newcastle University for generously providing the venue.
Dynamo Leadership Forums are focused on working directly with tech industry stakeholders to understand their views on a specific topic or issue in real time.
The forums provide a pulse on how organisations of all types and sizes, from across the North East, are feeling about changes in the tech sector.
Touching upon topics such as AI regulation, workplace integration, and skills development, the Shaping Tomorrow’s AI Landscape forum provided the perfect platform for members to come together, discuss best practice and how best we can overcome future challenges.
A short report has been produced featuring the key findings, discussion topics and a series of recommendations which Dynamo, alongside its members, will now seek to catalyse and set into motion.
These were:
- Companies should share methodologies of self-regulation.
- The North East should become a trailblazer in balanced AI and environmental policies.
- There should be a closer relationship between social science research and technology companies to better understand human interactions with AI moving forward.
David Dunn, CEO of Dynamo, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the Dynamo North East members who joined us for our most recent Leadership Forum.
“The forums were set up to bring the business community together to discuss opportunities, challenges and sentiments around specific themes, as well as devising potential steps that can be taken to help the region’s businesses embrace opportunities and overcome challenges, and The Shaping Tomorrow’s AI Landscape was a perfect example of this.
“Bringing together tech sector stakeholders that include CEOs and CTOs from large employers and SMEs, academics, and representatives from the public sector, it provided the perfect setting for people to share their experiences, learn from others and help us understand how – as a sector – we can work together to drive initiatives forward.”

What are Dynamo Leadership Forums?
Dynamo Leadership Forums are focused on working directly with tech industry stakeholders to understand their views on a specific topic or issue in real time. The forums provide a pulse on how organisations of all types and sizes are feeling about changes in the tech sector.
The output of the Leadership Forums are short reports that highlight sentiment on a theme and potential next steps to overcome challenges or embrace opportunities. Given Dynamo’s geographic focus – the North East of England – some of the feeling is grounded in the local region but much is transferable to wider UK geographies. The output should be useful to local and national policymakers – providing a short but insightful view of what is currently affecting the UK’s tech sector.
