What did you think of the awards evening?
It was amazing to see so many people from the North East tech community come together to celebrate their incredible achievements. The buzz was electric and by the sheer volume of people, you got a feel for just how much innovation, excellence in delivery and talent there is here in our region.
When your name was read out at the awards evening, how did it feel?
Overwhelmed? Shocked? Grateful? Proud? So many emotions in a split second. We are really proud to work with, and of the system we have built for A Star Attendance and what it has meant for young people across the UK, and to have that recognised was just amazing. Having worked with Jill and the team from the start, we’ve been through every emotion, challenge and success possible, so the win was extra special. And then to win the People’s Choice was a true honour – to know so many people voted for us for humbling.
What do you think have been the main benefits of entering the awards?
Celebrating success is important and people don’t share their own great work enough, but it’s also great for our team to see that all the hard work really does pay off, being recognised by third parties with the expertise who know what they’re talking about.
What advice would you give people who are thinking of entering the awards?
Dynamo and the Dynamites are an important part of the North East tech industry, the awards shine a light on what is going on in the region, but also give an opportunity to come together and celebrate that excellence. By entering the awards, you are cementing your place within that hall of expertise and inspiring others.
What are your hopes for the future of the North East’s tech industry?
Purely from the level of talent we’re seeing come through our apprentices, graduates and entry level employees, plus the innovation and drive seen by those who have been in the industry for decades, our hopes – and expectations – are very high! We want to be part of the national, and international, conversation around tech, developing systems and software that help education, industry and business thrive. We’re proud to be part of putting the North East on the national ‘tech map’.
