Charity’s digital transformation is just pawsome!

A unique North East Charity aiming to help end loneliness is now able to help more older people thanks to a major digital transformation project.

Wag & Company is the only charity befriending older dog lovers in their own homes as well as in care or hospitals. Due to the popularity of the service and increasing demand, with over 400 volunteers providing visits to thousands of people throughout the north east, Wag’s leadership team realised they needed to really transform the way they worked to be able to grow.

With funding from the National Lottery, Wag embarked on a wholescale overhaul of its systems, hardware and software and partnered with Nebula Labs, an award winning digital softwarehouse based in Newcastle, for a key part of the project.

Director and founder of Wag, Diane Morton has described the digital transformation as a ‘game changer’, saying “We received a transformational grant from The National Lottery’s Digital and Reaching Communities funds to equip us with the right digital systems, hardware, software, fundraising strategy and marketing to safely manage, grow and finance a Wag operation that can meet the significant demand.

“A big part of the project was the Wag engine room, our Volunteer, Recruitment & Referral Management System, the VRRMS.  Linked to our website it enables us to manage, measure and monitor absolutely all our operational activity and to gather real time quality, customer service, impact and safeguarding information;  in short it allows us to do what do best, at the scale that we need to do it, now and into the future, efficiently, safely and professionally and of course with lots of heart.”

Dylan McKee, CEO Nebula Labs said, “It has been a real pleasure working with Wag, and developing something that will help impact so positively on many more older people’s lives. We have worked closely with the charity’s leadership and operational team and collaborated with their design and marketing specialists to develop a modern and secure web-based system which tackles a number of key issues.”

Dylan and the team were so impressed with the valuable work of Wag they decided to continue supporting them by joining the Corporate Friends of Wag scheme.

Diane Morton added, “Thank you Dylan, Nic and the team at Nebula Labs for developing our new system, it’s game changing for us and we absolutely love it!  No more whiteboards!”
